After spending more than £11,000 over the course of several years, Cha Sa-Soon from South Korea finally succeeded on her 960th attempt to obtain her driving license. Although her successful test took place almost 15 years ago, her story has recently resurfaced on Reddit, where it has been shared thousands of times and has made international news.

Despite failing her first written test in April 2005, Sa-Soon persisted and sat the exam every day, five days a week for three years, until she reduced it to two exams per week.

Finally, on her 860th attempt, she passed the written test but still faced the daunting task of passing the practical test, which she attempted 100 times.

Her continued dedication to passing was fuelled by the fact that she needed to drive for her vegetable-selling business.

When she finally passed, she became a national celebrity for her tenacity and commitment. Following her success, South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai gifted her a brand new vehicle worth £11,640.

While some have applauded her perseverance, others have criticised the system that allowed her to take the test so many times.
